Seems to me that everybody is missing something that seems a little obvious to me. Why would A-Net even think of having a Wintersday event in July? For the benefit of the people in the southern hemisphere? No too likely... Because they ran out of ideas? I'm not cynical, so I don't subscribe to this either...

They plan on giving us a BIG, wonderful gift! And I'm not talking about the Wintersday drops, or the snowball fights... I'm referring to something much larger. Something on the scale of improved trading (Xunlai?), or something else equally massive, that would be received as a clearly positive event by everyone that plays the game. Now I have no idea what this BIG thing is, but I have already placed/bet my money on "the next big thing..."

So right now I could see A-Net employees sitting in their offices, smirking about the fact that nobody has a clue that when it's announced, this thread will immediately change from a haven for whiners to "OMG, they gave us XXX! A-net is the best!"

But that's just my guess...

Exactly my guess. That's the only thing I could think of... The event would only serve the purpose of giving us something BIG. I hope you're right and we get the Marketplace, enhanced storage, a new area, or just something that renews our interest in GW.

As much as I would like to hear about some thing BIG, I seriously doubt it is happening.

Okay, so I'm away this weekend and I can't play GW, so let's spin the wheel and see which event I'm missing...

Wintersday in July? Woo hoo!

And btw, this isn't a bad/unoriginal idea but it has no meaning to me.

Or they could be making you think theres a BIG update coming in the Wintersday Event you guys seem to think is happening (Snowball Arena and Drops do not make it THE event) so that when the realisation comes around that they were just adding the Snowball Arena in for a fun weekend they could have a ROFL LMAO moment.

it seems some of you should be getting coal in your x-mas in July stockings.

Can't we all just express our opinion about the update rather than flame other countries/people/ages/ignorance/CORN?

Personally, I'd much rather prefer to see PvE weekend events like this than "Double GvG Faction Weekend." Faction from the snowball fights, consumable items to keep my party out of eternal death penalty, and it's something added this weekend.

How bad could it really be?

Ohhh how about it's just a random FUN weekend - you know, a change from all the "double X" weekends most people whine about. Some FUN in the Snowball Arena and some FUN extra drops.

Oh, and how about just having FUN and enjoying the game for a change.

Thats what I intend to do. FUN. In a cool event intended for FUN.

Ps. How in hell did this go from "Wintersday in July" to flames about which hemisphere we live in and the relative IQ. The mind truly boggles.

Sure, the event doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but it sounds like fun. Apparently, this event doesn't stand a snowball's chance in Hell of avoiding forum flames, however.

It is absurd.

And is the idea really all that bad? Look elsewhere. Winter in July has been happing all around.

Friday, I think we could all use you as a good example. We should be playing Guild Wars to have fun, not to bash the next guy, not to farm ectos, not to artificially enlarge your epeen, not for any other reason.

Isn't play supposed to result in fun?

If you see any snow on the ground now, it's from the arenas where they play ice hockey.
